Make innovation and leadership part of your journey
Train to lead with our ASHP Pre-Candidate Status PGY1 Pharmacy Residency Program
Choose the pharmacy residency that’s designed to advance your career
The Optum Pharmacy Residency Program offers remarkable opportunities for professional growth:
Top of License Strategies
In Oregon, pharmacists can modify drug therapy care plans within collaborative drug therapy management (CDTM) agreements. We have CDTM policies in place to manage chronic conditions and optimize a team-based approach, with pharmacists as integral care team members.
Value-based care
At the core of our program is a commitment to value-based care, emphasizing patient outcomes and cost-effectiveness. You’ll learn to make informed decisions while prioritizing quality care and maximizing resources.
Multi-specialty exposure
Oregon Medical Group boasts 14 specialties alongside eight primary care teams. This diversity provides ample opportunity for learning and experience from many experts in their field.
Expansion of Services
As the financial sustainability curve shifts to place even greater emphasis on risk reduction, clinical leadership has bought into the need to advance our pharmacy team at an exponential rate. This means greater support and a broadened focus on patient care needs.
Tailored career pathways
Whether you’re interested in clinical practice, virtual care, pharmacy informatics, or leadership, our program aligns with your goals and creates a path that supports your ambitions.
We’ll help you go further, faster
Our residency program is designed to develop competent clinical practitioners with abilities tailored to today's healthcare landscape. Upon program completion, you'll be fully equipped to:
Perform in a clinical ambulatory position
Our residents gain hands-on experience and training to perform in ambulatory clinic settings, provide personalized patient-centered care, and work collaboratively in teams to optimize care outcomes.
Take on an introductory supervisor or management position
Our program includes elements of leadership and management that prepare residents for introductory roles requiring strategic thinking and team coordination.
Meet the high standards of hiring eligibility
With successful completion of our residency program, you'll be well-positioned to meet the criteria for employment within Oregon Medical Group and beyond.
What you’ll achieve across 4 key objectives
Your residency will result in the achievement of ASHP educational objectives as defined by ACHR status in PharmAcademic. Skills are assessed using key goals, objectives, and extensive evaluation by both preceptor and resident.
